Minutes of the Meeting of NHRDN on 9th Jan, 2010

The first monthly meeting of NHRDN, Bhubaneswar Chapter for the year 2010 was convened on 9th January at 6.30 pm at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The meeting was preceded by a panel discussion on "Development Prospects of Orissa – the Mindset Issues" with our guest speakers – Sri Bimal Krushna Mishra, Dr. J. Mahapatra and Sri Simanta Mohanty.

The discussion was extremely participative wherein suggestions were put in by audience which included entrepreneurship as a core subject in professional courses at B-schools to increase awareness. A state will not be really responsible as a location for development but it is the development indices in a state which would be responsible. Suggestions came up that the concept of summer training for students should change. This should be undertaken only after a student decides on his / her core skills. The deterrents of existing format of summer / internship training were discussed.

The panel discussion was summed up by the President, Dr. S. K. Mahapatra where he cited how mindset issues of the common man succeeded in delaying projects which would otherwise generate employment in large numbers. He mentioned how a sectoral balance of income in line with a developed state / country is important for the growth of Orissa. The signs and seeds of change should go together.

The talk was followed by meeting of NHRDN members of Bhubaneswar Chapter.

His talk enlightened the audience on various aspects of stress like the external and internal sources of stress, physical & emotional signs of stress, stress associated conditions and treatment for stress. The pace of talk and the style of presentation left the audience yearning for more.

The talk was followed by meeting of NHRDN members of Bhubaneswar Chapter. It was decided to keep the meeting short as the day was marked with events right from the morning.
